Frequently Asked Questions.
If your question is not answered below, please feel free to contact us at (603) 539 4997.
What is my role as a chaperone?
A chaperone’s primary role is to ensure that the students are prepared and on time for activities, as well as supervise them overnight in the cabins. The Cody instructors will lead the daytime and evening programs. We ask that chaperones attend these programs and play a supportive role. Time is allotted for chaperones to take breaks (we understand you need to catch up on work, call home, take a shower, etc.) Upon arrival to Cody, you will receive more detailed information regarding your role.
Where will I be sleeping?
Cody offers comfortable, clean facilities. All cabins have bunk beds, electricity, heat, fully-equipped bathrooms, and ample cubby space for belongings. Cabin capacities vary and we work with each school to provide cabins that accommodate the size of the group. Chaperones stay with the students and the number of chaperones in each cabin is based on the cabin capacity.
What if I take medication?
We ask that all medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, remain locked in your personal vehicle or kept with our medical staff. For the safety of the campers, chaperones are not permitted to keep medications on their person (EpiPens and inhalers are the ONLY exceptions). Medications submitted to our medical staff will remain confidential and can be accessed at any time.
What if I have a food allergy or dietary need?
We cater to a number of dietary needs. Our facility is nut free and also accommodates gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, shellfish, egg and lactose allergies, intolerances, and restrictions, as well as vegetarian and vegan diets. Please indicate any dietary needs in the Cody Chaperone Packet and feel free to contact us so we can create a safe dining experience for you.
What if I have a restriction which may limit participation?
Because everyone’s needs are different, if you have a concern regarding participation or your ability to fulfill the chaperone role, please contact us so we can determine the best way to accommodate you.
Can I bring my cell phone and is there service?
Yes, you may bring your cell phone and you can charge it in the cabin. The major carriers do get service at Cody. We ask that you limit phone use to your break times (cell phones can be a distraction or homesickness trigger for the students). Please do not allow students to use your cell phone.
Can I bring my computer and is there WiFi?
Yes, you may bring your computer and there is WiFi available. We ask that you limit computer use to your break times because it can be a distraction for the students. Please do not allow students to use your computer.
Are there any items (in addition to what is on the packing list) that you would suggest bringing?
As you are packing, please keep in mind that you will be participating in activities so it is important that you have a day pack, water bottle, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, and appropriate clothing to be out in the elements. For cabin time, we suggest you bring some card games or books. It is easier to get students to settle down if they are engaged in a quiet activity before bed.
Do I drive my own car or ride the bus?
This will be determined by the school teachers so please check in with them. If you are driving, please consider carpooling with other parent chaperones.
